Learn how to safely practice in areas that are slightly outside of pure real estate but you will likely run into when practising commercial real estate. There are always opportunities (and risks) in exploring these new but collateral areas of law. So when you begin to dabble in these new areas, you must ensure you have a thorough understanding of what you can and cannot do in order to protect and enhance your practice.
Our distinguished faculty will explore the fine boundaries between what a commercial real estate lawyer should know and when he or she should turn to the experts. You will hear about hot topics including purchasing or selling a small business with a commercial property, dealing with environment risks inherent in real property transactions, managing the plethora of landlord and tenant issues that make commercial leasing so time intensive, condominium governance and increasing compliance issues, CCDC 2 contracts, severances, minor variances, property tax appeals and related municipal issues.
