About LPACThe Legal Profession Assistance Conference (LPAC) has the unique function within the CBA of providing continuing education, support and expertise to the Provincial and Territorial Lawyer Assistance Programs (LAPs) across Canada. The LAPs provide professional support and assistance to lawyers, judges and law students across Canada, including confidential counseling, advisory and information services, as well as personal support and peer group volunteers. You can access Lawyer Assistance Services for lawyers, judges and law students by contacting your Provincial/Territorial Lawyers Assistance Program. LPAC ServicesWellness Recognition is growing among lawyers that practising law is exacting and can take a heavy toll emotionally, mentally and physically and sometimes financially. As well as providing assistance when lawyers experience distress, professional counseling can help before a personal problem has a negative impact on one's personal and professional life. Commencing in 1989, LPAC has helped establish lawyer assistance programs in every Province and Territory, ranging from fully funded professional programs to volunteer organizations. LPAC provides expertise, guidance and research resources to these programs and assists both paid personnel and volunteers in developing their skills. 24/7 Helpline – 1-800-667-5722 (LPAC) Lawyers, judges, law students and their families, staff, and friends can phone our 24/7 helpline at 1-800-667-5722 (LPAC) for confidential help, assistance, guidance and professional referrals. The helpline is confidential. Funding LPAC is funded by the Canadian Bar Insurance Association, with additional help from the Canadian Lawyers Insurance Association, the Canadian Bar Association, Provincial and Territorial Lawyer Assistance Programs, and lawyers, judges and law students across Canada. In addition, LPAC receives financial support from the law firm Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt s.r.l. LPAC's 24/7 helpline is answered by the Renascent Foundation in Toronto.
