 he 2011 Vernon Law Day Open House was held from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on April 16, 2011 at the Vernon Court House at 3001-27th Street. There was a mock trial, a composition competition for elementary and high school students, a question and answer session with lawyers, tours of the courthouse and cells and displays by the RCMP, specialized victims, legal aid and sheriffs.

A mock trial with students from Vernon Secondary School was held at the Vernon Court House at 3001-27th Street. The Honourable Judge Mark Takahashi of the Provincial Court of British Columbia presided over the mock trial. Crown Counsel Sandra Sinclair acted as prosecutor and defense lawyer Juan O'Quinn represented the defendants.
On Saturday, April 16, 2011, the British Columbia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association held its province-wide "Dial-A-Lawyer" event as part of Law Week. In 2011, volunteer lawyers assisted 373 people in five different areas of law including: family, tort/MVA, immigration, criminal, and wills and estates. Vernon residents were invited to call and speak with a lawyer for up to 15 minutes at no cost.
