he 2011 Kelowna Law Day open house was held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on April 13, 2011 at the Kelowna Law Courts at 1355 Water Street. Events included a BBQ, community displays, courthouse and cell tours, a mock trial with Girl Guides, an RCMP demonstration with police dogs and motorcycles, a poster contest and scavenger hunt.

Mock Trial with Girl Guides
Approximately 100 Girl Guides in grades 6 and 7 were charged with multiple counts of assault, cultivation, disturbing the peace and destruction of private property. On April 13, 2011, an arrest of the Girl Guides was conducted on the steps of the Kelowna Law Courts at 1355 Water Street. The defendants were escorted to cells and their mock trial commenced at 5:45 pm. Crown Counsel called officers from the RCMP and bystanders as witnesses during the mock trial. The defense counsel and Crown Counsel included Jennifer Thorne, Christy Lovig, Keri Grenier, Jaime Boyle, Deanna Stone and Greg Pratch. Amanda Haugan and Monic Pratch acted as court clerks. The jury consisted of Girl Guides.
Law Day events in Kelowna are made possible through the support of the Canadian Bar Association, the Kelowna Bar Association and volunteers from the RCMP, BC Sheriff Services, court services, Kelowna area law firms, crown counsel, the Justice Education Society and the Kelowna Courthouse Library.

On Saturday, April 16, 2011, the British Columbia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association held its province-wide "Dial-A-Lawyer" event as part of Law Week. In 2011, volunteer lawyers assisted 373 people in five different areas of law including: family, tort/MVA, immigration, criminal, and wills and estates. Kelowna residents were invited to call and speak with a lawyer for up to 15 minutes at no cost.
