 he 2011 Kamloops Law Day Open House was held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on April 6, 2011 at the Kamloops Courthouse at 455 Columbia Street. The following events and activities were held:
- Cell and vehicle tours by sheriffs
- RCMP police dogs and drug and forensic displays
- Court house library tour and Billy Miner display
- Treasure hunt for kids
- Community organization displays
- ICBC display
- A mock trial based on Peter Pan
- “Ask a Judge” for local cub and scout law badges
Kamloops Law Day Flyer
A mock trial was held for Peter Pan who was charged with break-and-enter and teaching children how to fly. The well-attended mock trial was held between 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Kamloops Courthouse at 455 Columbia Street. The Crown Counsel was portrayed by Kenneth Walker, Kenneth Sommerfeld, Gisella Guzzo and Michelle Stanford. Sarah Firestone and Joel Gold acted as defense counsel.
On Saturday, April 16, 2011, the British Columbia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association held its province-wide "Dial-A-Lawyer" event as part of Law Week. In 2011, volunteer lawyers assisted 373 people in five different areas of law including: family, tort/MVA, immigration, criminal, and wills and estates. Kamloops residents were invited to call and speak with a lawyer for up to 15 minutes at no cost.
