 Manitoba Bar Association Legislation and Law Reform Committee (“LLRC”)

Mandate

The purposes of the LLRC are as follows:

(a) Review all bills introduced in the Legislature and identify whether any local sections / council should be alerted to pending legislation;

(b) Provide support to sections wanting to make submissions to Standing Committees at the Legislature for pending legislation;

(c) Make / coordinate submissions to Standing Committees at the Legislature on behalf of the MBA or one of its sections;

(d) Review Section submissions to ensure consistency with prior submissions and CBA Policy and Submissions; and

(e) Take active steps to propose law reform by:

(i) Acting as liaison between MBA Council / Executive and sections to identify need for legislative change; and

(ii) Coordinating lobbying efforts to government to effect change.
