We are saddened to inform the Profession that Richard R ("Rick") Sugden, QC passed away January 5, 2009 at his home in Irvine, California, following a long illness. His wife, Karen, was at his side.

Rick was well known, respected, and admired among members of the Bar and the Courts, not only for his considerable skills as a lawyer and advocate but also for the civility that marked his practice, for his generosity as a volunteer and in helping other lawyers, and for his good humoured friendship. He will be very much missed by both his family and all of his colleagues and friends.
