Jack Giles, QC Receives 50 Year Pin

National CBA President Bernard Amyot (right) and BC Branch President Ken Walton (left) with Jack Giles, QC and Virginia Giles at their home in Saltspring Island, commemorating Mr. Giles' 50 years of CBA membership.

During a recent trip to Western Canada, National CBA President Bernard Amyot surprised Jack Giles, QC at his Saltspring Island home with the presentation of a 50 year CBA pin. CBA BC Branch President Ken Walton who initiated the CBA BC Branch pin member recognition initiative was also on hand.

President Ken Walton honours Jack saying that "he has been a leading and important counsel in British Columbia for decades. Individually, lawyers in Canada owe Jack a lot because of Jack's fine work in obtaining an injunction preventing money laundering legislation from applying to the legal profession. As Jack said, had he known of the honours that would come his way after leaving practice, he would have retired long ago. In my opinion, recognition of Jack's immense contribution at a high level is long overdue."

Mr Giles, a long-time counsel with Farris, Vaughan, Wills and Murphy LLP, was awarded the 2007-2008 Georges A Goyer, QC Memorial Award for Distinguished Service in honour of his exceptional contributions and achievements. Mr Giles was presented with the award at the annual Vancouver Bench and Bar Dinner that was held on November 14, 2007.
