The CBA produces a number of useful and informative publications, in print or electronic format. Please follow the links below to find out more about the CBA’s various publications.

BarTalk
BarTalk is the CBABC's bi-monthly magazine, updating members on developments and trends affecting their practice, as well as Branch activities. Access the full text of the current issue online, as well as archived issues dating back to 1998.

A Client's Guide to Litigation
A new publication by David Roberts, QC offers an invaluable, easy-to-read resource for clients.

BC Lawyers' Directory
Members can access the online version of the indispensable BC Lawyers' Directory free of charge - search for BC lawyers by name, firm, city, preferred area of practice and second language listings. For an annual subscription fee of $20, members can add the Legal Resource Directory, a listing of government, judges, courts, professional services, CBA, and law-related groups. Plus: order the print version of the BC Lawyers' Directory, or pay for non-member access.

CBABC Surveys
Results of recent surveys, including Articling and Associate Retention Challenges.

Current Issues in Legislation and Law Reform (available to CBA members only)
Regular briefings on notable bills introduced in the BC Legislative Assembly. A continuing part of the BC Branch Legislation and Law Reform Program.

Legislative Update (available to CBA members only)
A summary of legislative developments in British Columbia, covering new acts in force, regulations and new bills to note, and reports available. Access bi-monthly issues dating back to 1998. A continuing part of the BC Branch Legislation and Law Reform Program.

CBA National
Canadian Bar Review
The official, bilingual learned legal journal of the CBA, the Canadian Bar Review is published online three times a year.

CBA Futures
“Crystal Clear", the Report of the CBA Futures Committee, looks ten years into the future of the legal profession and recommends ways in which the CBA can prepare itself to be most relevant to its members.

CBA PracticeLink
Designed with the busy, practising lawyer in mind, this CBA website offers practical tools, information, tips, and ideas to help cope with the day-to-day, bread-and-butter issues of running a law practice.

Code of Professional Conduct
The CBA adopted its first Code of Professional Conduct in 1920, and the last comprehensive amendments were made in 1987. The CBA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Issues was created with a mandate to update the CBA Code of Professional Conduct.

EPIIgram
EPIIgram, the electronic newsletter of the Emerging Professional Issues Initiative, is published monthly and emailed to CBA members.

Joint Policy Statement (.pdf)
The 1978 agreement between the CBA and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, entitled the Joint Policy Statement on Audit Enquiry and Response.

National Magazine
The National magazine is the official periodical of the CBA. National's function is to provide CBA members with the latest trends and developments affecting the legal profession and the practice of law, as well as the latest news regarding the association and its activities.

Newsletters
A collection of section-specific, e-mail newsletters that are distributed to CBA members periodically.

Resolutions
Resolutions passed at the CBA Annual and Mid-Winter meetings that determine the Association's position on current legal issues and CBA governance, and that promote the CBA mandate.

Submissions to Government
CBA Submissions to Parliament on matters identified by members or as a response to government initiatives. Submissions influence the development of government policy and law reform.
