Stephen began his legal career in South Africa and was called to the Bar there in 1997. His law degree was earned at the University of Stellenbosch, situated in the heart of the South African wine lands, which makes his successful academic performance there even more impressive. He immigrated to Canada in 1997, obtained his Canadian legal accreditation in 2000, and was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2002.
Stephen is a partner with Ramsay Lampman Rhodes in Nanaimo and practises family law, personal injury law and general civil litigation. He has a special interest in alternate dispute resolution.
Stephen has been an elected member of Provincial Council for Nanaimo County, the Chair of the Alternate Dispute Resolution-Nanaimo Section and has sat on the Executive of the Nanaimo Family Section as well as chairing and sitting on a number of CBA committees, both at a Branch and National level.
He has sat on the CBA BC Branch Executive Committee since 2005 and sat on the CBA National Board of Directors in 2010/11.
