Alex recently completed a contract as Senior Associate Counsel at Bull, Housser & Tupper LLP and has 24 years of experience working in senior legal and management positions for forest products and construction companies combined with 14 years in private practice.  Alex has also been a managing partner of a mid-sized Vancouver law firm.  Alex obtained his BA in 1967 and his JD in 1972 from the University of Saskatchewan.  Alex was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1973.  His practice includes mergers and acquisitions, competition law, forestry and construction law.

Recently, Alex was Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Imperial Parking Corporation, the third largest parking company in North America.  He has also been Vice President & General Counsel of Weyerhaeuser Canada where he worked on many of the largest acquisitions and divestitures in the forest products industry in Canada including the purchase of the Dryden Ontario Operations from Bowater, the merger with MacMillan Bloedel, the sale of the BC Coastal assets of Weyerhaeuser and the Weyerhaeuser-Domtar combination of assets of their paper business to form Domtar Corporation.

As General Counsel of Dillingham Canada, Alex provided legal advice on many large construction projects and advice on acquisitions and the sale of Dillingham.

Alex has spoken at numerous conferences in Canada and the United States, presented papers and participated in seminars on construction law, mergers and acquisitions, trade law (Softwood Lumber Dispute) and ethics and professionalism.
