Chinese New Year Cultural and Heritage Miaohui

On January 29 and 30, 2011, CBABC staff from the Lawyer Referral Service and Dial-A-Law programs participated in the celebration of Chinese New Year Cultural and Heritage Miaohui at the Executive Airport Plaza Hotel in Richmond, British Columbia. The CBABC booth provided information and brochures on both programs to members of the public.

Dial-A-Law is a library of scripts prepared by lawyers. It offers general information on a variety of topics on law in British Columbia, but not legal advice. If the public need further information they can contact the Lawyer Referral Service to be referred to a lawyer for a consultation. Dial-A-Law is a free service available by telephone and Internet. Dial-A-Law English and Chinese scripts are available online in audio format.

The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia and operated by the Canadian Bar Association British Columbia Branch. The LRS program enables the public to access lawyers practicing in the field of law required for the particular situation and provides the opportunity to have a consultation with a lawyer for up to 30 minutes for a nominal fee plus tax.
