Douglas Miller Rising Star Award

The Award recognizes an early career lawyer who is a CBA member in good standing and who exhibits: professional excellence; service to the profession; and outstanding dedication and team spirit in his or her ongoing involvement with the CBA. This award is intended to provide early recognition of developing talent, honouring members who already demonstrate characteristics of leadership to the profession.  The award is named in honor of the late Douglas Miller of Yellowknife, an active CBA member who participated enthusiastically in Association activities, enjoying both the work and the people involved.

SECTION A – WORK RELATED ACHIEVEMENTS (10 points)

Nominator to describe how the nominee exemplifies a broad range of high achievement, innovation, vision and leadership.

SECTION B – SERVICE TO THE PROFESSION (5 points)

Nominator to describe nominee’s contribution to the development and/or advancement of the legal profession in Canada.

Nominator to outline nominee’s leadership and active participation in legal associations, societies, institutes etc.

SECTION C – SERVICES TO THE CBA (10 points)

Nominator to highlight nominee’s contribution in volunteer service/leadership within any aspect of the association.

SECTION D – SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY (5 points)

Nominator to highlight nominee’s active participation in voluntary organizations and community service.
