We are now accepting registrations for the Eighth Annual CBA Saskatchewan Law Firm Showcase to be held at the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law on Monday, November 7, 2011.  Register with Brenda Hesje at brendah@cba.org.

Please note that this event is limited to Saskatchewan law firms only.  The schedule is as follows:

12:30 - 1:00  Set up booths

1:00 - 2:30  Saskatchewan Law Firm Showcase

2:30  Reception hosted by the Law Students Association

Please note that the College of Law is continuing to encourage a “swag free” event this year - and requests that participants refrain from providing students with promotional items and give aways.  Written materials promoting either your office or the municipality in which your office is located (i.e. why should a student live in 'x' community?) are welcome although students indicate that if materials are readily available on a website, then printed copies may be unnecessary.

Students have expressed interest in learning more about the practice of law in Saskatchewan, with many students showing particular interest in communities outside of Regina and Saskatoon - the firms that traditionally may not have had much direct interaction with students in the past.  Students have often asked questions along the following lines:

• information about particular firms or public employers;
• opportunities in Saskatchewan;
• rural Saskatchewan practice;
• the nature of the environment in a large vs. a small firm;
• various practice areas;
• what students should look for in distinguishing one firm from another;
• the hiring criteria used by firms; and
• suggestions for students in preparing for the recruitment process and articling.
