It is through the volunteer efforts of the members that the work of the CBA is accomplished. There are many committees doing a variety of work. To become involved in the work of the CBA simply complete the Committee Interest Form and submit it to the Branch Office.
CBA Saskatchewan Bylaws allow for 20 Elected Members of Council. The province is divided into six Electoral Districts, referred to as Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest, Regina and Saskatoon. To serve as an Elected Member, the nominee must be a member of the CBA and resident in the Electoral District for which nomination is being sought. Elected Members of Council are also members of National Council, some as voting and some as non-voting. All Elected Members are voting members of CBA Saskatchewan Council. This is a 2-year term position beginning September 1, 2011.
The Call for Nominations deadline has past and a number of Elected Member of Council positions are still vacant. Any member interested in serving in this capacity is encouraged to contact Brenda Hesje at the Branch Office (1-800-424-8288; 244-3781; brendah@cba.org). The following Electoral District positions are available: Northeast (2 positions); Southeast (2 positions).

Do you know any Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered or Two-spirited (LBGTT) lawyers or law students in the Province of Saskatchewan?
The Canadian Bar Association's LGBTT group, the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Conference (SOGIC) is looking for interested lawyers and law students who would like to help set up a Saskatchewan SOGIC chapter.
Part of SOGIC's mandate is to encourage LGBTT lawyers to actively participate in the work of the Canadian Bar Association and to provide a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and action on legal issues relating to sexual orientation and gender identity. Membership in SOGIC also provides a great way for lawyers to build their networks and meet like-minded colleagues.
If you or someone you know would like to be part of this important project, or if you'd simply like more information, please feel free to contact travis@zizzoclimate.com and to forward this to others who may be interested.
