hief Justice Finch was appointed as Chief Justice of British Columbia and Yukon Territory in 2001. He was a judge of the Court of Appeal of British Columbia and Yukon Territory from 1993 to 2001 and a trial judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia from 1983 to 1992.

Chief Justice Finch completed a Bachelor of Laws at the University of British Columbia in 1962 and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1963. In 1976 he was President of the Vancouver Bar Association and a Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia from 1981 to 1983. He was in private practice with Guild Yule in Vancouver from 1963 to 1983.
