David fears he can't adequately represent himself at his refugee hearing and will be deported back to a dangerous situation.

David fled violence and persecution in his home country of El Salvador, where he was targeted for being a gay man. His work permit allows him to work as a delivery driver. He knows he is safe in Canada, but still has nightmares about the violence he faced back home.

Legal aid helps David complete a Basis of Claim Form, but there is no funding to help with the actual hearing. David does not know how he can possibly navigate complex legal proceedings alone. He is waiting to find out the date of his hearing, but he's already having trouble sleeping. With his limited English, he fears he will do a poor job representing himself, and will end up being deported to El Salvador, where his life will be in danger.
