Brian Witwicki as Representative Plaintiff v. Maple Leaf Foods Inc. |
This class action concerns the Defendant’s negligent quality control, monitoring, processing, storage, distribution and sale of certain meat based products. The Plaintiff purchased certain deli style meats that had been processed, packaged and stored by the Defendant. After consuming the Meats the Plaintiff became extremely ill. The Plaintiff had symptoms including fever, muscle aches, gastrointestinal nausea, headache, stiff neck and projectile vomiting. Later the Plaintiff learned that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency had received laboratory results from Health Canada that established a link between meat products recalled by the Defendants from their plant in Toronto and an outbreak of listeriosis infections in several Canadian provinces including Alberta. |
