On September 27, 2010, The Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA) and The Counsel Network released the results of the In-House Counsel Compensation & Career Survey 2010.
The 2010 Survey provides valuable insights into the state of the corporate counsel profession in Canada, including the impact of the economic downturn and the progressive recovery in Canada.
The current Survey is an expanded follow-up to the inaugural In-House Counsel Compensation & Career Survey 2009, the first of its kind undertaken in Canada.
In undertaking the survey, CCCA partnered with legal recruitment firm, The Counsel Network, who commissioned Ipsos Reid to create this essential reference tool.
A total of 1106 in-house counsel participated in the survey from across Canada and a variety of sectors.
The Survey asked over 60 questions which cover topics as diverse as demographic data, compensation, benefits, satisfaction with the various components of their compensation package, hours of work and work-life balance, confidence in the future and satisfaction with career mobility.
New questions on this year’s expanded survey provide information on bonus/incentive maximums and payout frequency, further details on benefits, looks at change in benefits coverage/cost in the past 12 months and structure and components of pensions/RRSPs, as well as long-term incentive plan vesting and amounts.
The Survey is conducted with the purpose of reporting and benchmarking compensation and career topics that relate specifically to the Canadian corporate counsel community.
The In-House Counsel Compensation & Career Survey 2010 is complimentary for all members of the CCCA.
