Final draft of the revised Rules of Procedure (Rules of General Application – Part I, Appeals – Part II and Procurement – Part XI) (Available in English only)

“The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (“CITT”) has issued a final draft of the revised Rules of Procedure (Rules of General Application – Part I, Appeals – Part II and Procurement – Part XI) and has proposed June 8, 2012 as the deadline to file any comments thereon. Such comments should be directed to Dominique Laporte, Secretary of the Tribunal and Director of Corporate Services, Canadian International Trade Tribunal, 333 Laurier, Ottawa Ontario K1A 0G7 with a copy to Ronald Cheng, #1900-340 Albert Street, Ottawa ON K1R 7Y6, and Dalton Albrecht, Miller Thomson LLP, Scotia Plaza, #5800-40 King Street West, P.O. Box 1011, Toronto ON M5H 3S1.

Tentative meeting date to discuss any such comments will be held at the Tribunal June 21 (Part I) and on June 22, 2012 (Part II and XI).”

Mandate

Mandate

This Section deals with law and practice related to commodity tax, customs and trade remedy matters including, but not limited to, the goods and services or harmonized sales tax, provincial sales taxes, excise taxes, North American Free Trade Agreement, customs duties, valuation, tariff classification, rules of origin, procurement, trade remedies, import/export controls and related matters. Activities include consultation with the Department of Finance (Canada), the Canada Revenue Agency, the Canada Border Services Agency, involvement in the Federal Court/Tax Court review process and Bench and Bar Committees with the Tax Court and Canadian International Trade Tribunal, as well as ongoing activities to promote the objects of the Association within this area of law.
