NIAGARA – Simon Gingras, CBA Director of Information Technology (IT), is the winner of the 2010 CBA Jack Innes Achievement Award, an award that recognizes the exceptional staff contribution to the Association.

“Simon is committed to technological advancement throughout the organization both for the CBA national and our branch levels,” said CBA President D. Kevin Carroll, Q.C., of Barrie, Ontario. “He has a ‘can do’ attitude which really marks the difference between dealing with a great technical person and dealing with someone who is a great team player.”

As the CBA Director of IT, Mr. Gingras is responsible for directing IT operations including computer operations, IT support, systems analysis and programming. He also establishes technical priorities, standards and procedures and ensures sufficient systems capacity for organizational needs.

Mr. Gingras has worked for the CBA since 2000 and has been instrumental in overseeing the IT department, administering national and provincial websites, managing databases and developing customized solutions for many technological requirements.

The Jack Innes Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contribution to the CBA by a current staff member who has exhibited creativity, innovation, leadership and commitment. Jack Innes was National Treasurer of the CBA from 2002 to 2007.

The award, which takes the form of a $1,000 cash prize and engraved plaque, will be presented at the CBA Awards Lunch on Saturday, August 14, at 12:30 p.m., at the Sheraton on the Falls, Great Room C. The reception is held in conjunction with the CBA 2010 Canadian Legal Conference and Expo in Niagara from August 15-17. The event is open to accredited media.
