Robert G. Patzelt, Q.C.

Robert Patzelt is a past-president of the Nova Scotia Canadian Bar Association and was the CBA’s national Treasurer and a member of the CBA national executive.  He is a past president for the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association. In addition to this volunteer activity he was the past Chair of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Nova Scotia Division and past-Chair of their environment committee he is on the national board of the CME and sits on its Executive Committee.  During the day he is Vice President and General Counsel and a member of the executive team for Scotia Investments Limited a diversified holding company operating in 6 provinces in Canada and in the south eastern United States with about 2000 employees.  Activities include pulp & paper, food processing, transportation, floral production and real estate development.  Mr. Patzelt has written papers and spoken to groups all over North America on a variety of legal and risk management issues.   He also has his Fellowship in the Insurance Institute of Canada and is a recipient of the Don Stuart Award, which is the highest Canadian designation, awarded to a person recognising their outstanding contributions to risk management. Mr. Patzelt was awarded with the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for his contributions to Canada and most recently the 2004 Canadian Bar Association President’s Award.
