Renée Léger
Director, Group Contracts & Legal Affairs
Bombardier Transportation

After two years as corporate counsel in a consulting firm, where she was responsible namely for the translation activities, Renée Léger joined Bombardier Transportation (BT) as Legal Counsel in 2001. She worked for two years in the North America division, being involved in corporate matters as well as contract negotiation, procurement, litigation and support to project management.

In early 2003, she moved to Berlin, Germany, to join the legal team of another operating division, specializing in regional transportation. There, she was able to share her company knowledge as well as learn from her colleagues following Bombardier’s 2001 acquisition of a much bigger European rail business.

Towards the end of 2003, she became a member of the Contracts and Legal Affairs department at BT Group level. As Manager working for BT’s Vice President Contracts & Legal Affairs she was involved in contract-related governance stemming from instruments of guarantees, services contracts, commercial representation process as well as Group bid reviews.

In 2005, she took on a different role within the same team, becoming the sole responsible for IS/IT legal support, encompassing contractual negotiation, process deployment and support to project management. In addition, in mid-2007, after one year of collaboration with the Intellectual Property (IP) Department, she was named responsible for IP matters pertaining mostly to customer contracts and technology license agreements, assisted by a team member also located in Berlin.

In November of the same year she moved back to Canada, where she was promoted to Director Group Contracts & Legal Affairs and, since then, has been heading a team of four (split between Canada and Germany), overseeing aspects of contract related governance for the North-American market as well as for Light Rail Vehicles, instruments of guarantees, corporate training, IS/IT and IP.

Ms. Léger received her LL.L. from the University of Ottawa in 1997 and has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1998.
