Irish Centre for Human Rights Michelle Farrell is currently a doctoral candidate at the Irish Centre for Human Rights, National University of Ireland, Galway. Her thesis is entitled ‘Torture and the State of Exception’. Michelle holds an LL.M in International Human Rights Law from the National University of Ireland, Galway and a B.A. in European Studies from Trinity College Dublin. Michelle’s specific research interests include the prohibition of torture, counter-terrorism and human rights and the theory of human rights. Michelle has delivered a number of conference papers and published papers on the subjects of the prohibition of torture and of counter-terrorism and human rights. In the course of her doctoral studies, Michelle has held positions as Teaching Fellow on the E.MA in Human Rights and Democratisation at the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights in Venice, Italy and as research fellow at the Irish Centre for Human Rights. |
