OTTAWA – Anne M. Wallace, Q.C., of Saskatoon, has been named the 2006 winner of the of the Canadian Bar Association’s Douglas Miller Award.  CBA President Brian A. Tabor, Q.C., of Halifax presented the award at the CBA Mid-Winter Meeting of Council in Cancun (Mexico) on Feb. 17.

“Anne Wallace has been an active and enthusiastic CBA member since her university days, demonstrating outstanding commitment and team spirit in all her involvement with the Association,” said Brian Tabor in presenting the award.

Anne is a partner in Wallace Meschishnick Clackson Zawada in Saskatoon.  She is a Chartered Arbitrator and Mediator.  Her law practice includes general counsel work, administrative law, industrial relations, employment law, human rights and civil litigation, including commercial litigation cases.  She is a mediator, adjudicator and arbitrator of disputes, including domain name disputes.  Anne is a Senior Adjudicator under the Dispute Resolution Model for Indian Residential School Abuse Claims. She also provides skills-based training in conflict resolution and prevention. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1999.

Anne’s dedication to the CBA is evident in her years of progressively greater involvement in the Association. Most recently, she chaired the Cancun Organizing Committee (2005-2006), was President of the Saskatchewan Branch (2004-2005), and sat on the National Finance Committee (2004-2005).  She was chair of the National Continuing Legal Education Committee (1999-2001).

The Douglas Miller Award honours the late Doug Miller of Yellowknife, a former president of the Association’s Northwest Territories Branch and a very active CBA member who passed away in 1994. The award recognizes a CBA member who demonstrates outstanding dedication and team spirit.

The Canadian Bar Association is dedicated to improvement in the law and the administration of justice. Some 36,000 lawyers, law teachers, and law students from across Canada are members.
