Sword & Scale Essay Competition - Prize
The winner will receive a cash prize of $250, publication of their paper in the electronic newsletter, Sword & Scale, complimentary registration (valued at $300 – airfare and accommodation not included) for the National Military Law Section’s professional development conference in the spring of 2012 (June 8, 2012 in Ottawa), and an invitation to join the Section’s Executive Committee meeting.
Criteria and Eligibility
The prize is presented annually for the best scholarly essay in military law or justice, public policy or public affairs related to Canadian military law.
Authors must be full-time university students currently enrolled at a Canadian law school at either an undergraduate or graduate level.
Only papers written by one author in either English or French will be accepted.
Submission and Selection Process
All papers must be received by CBA no later than April 30, 2012. The Executive Committee of NMLS will select a jury of three to five persons to evaluate essays submitted and to select the best scholarly essay.
