Proper Regulation of Immigration Consultants Needed
The CBA has criticized the apparent absence of effective competence and professional accountability standards within the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants in a Dec. 12 letter to then-Immigration Minister Joe Volpe. “The CBA has long been concerned about the serious problems created by unregulated ‘immigration consultants.’ In our view, only lawyers or Quebec notaries in good standing in a Canadian jurisdiction, or consultants regulated by a proper licensing body should be allowed to provide immigration legal services,” said CBA President Brian A. Tabor, QC. View letter at: www.cba.org/CBA/submissions/pdf/05-60-eng.pdf
