Harry Rankin QC Pro Bono Award

Law Student Awards

Women Lawyers Forum Award of Excellence
The Award celebrates the accomplishments of a woman who has succeeded in breaking new ground for women in the legal profession in British Columbia.

Women Lawyers Forum Debra Van Ginkel, QC Mentoring Award
This Award honours the memory and accomplishments of Debra Van Ginkel, QC, an extraordinary woman and member of the legal profession.

Work Life Balance Awards
Recognizes lawyers, law firms or organizations who demonstrate leadership in promoting work life balance within the practice of law.

Recognizes outstanding contribution to the law or legal scholarship in Canada.

Student Fellowships & Awards
Viscount Bennett Fellowship Award
A $20,000 fellowship, awarded annually to a Canadian student to encourage high standards of legal education, training and ethics.

James H Bocking Memorial Award
Recognizes best scholarly paper/article submitted to the Competition Law Section on a subject relating to Canadian competition law or policy.

Edward K Rowan-Legg Award
Recognizes dedicated contribution to the CBA by a student member and encourages student participation in the Canadian Legal Conference.

National Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Section Law School Essay Contest
Promotes and rewards interest in environmental, energy and resources law topics in Canadian law schools.

Literature
Walter Owen Book Prize
Recognizes excellent legal writing and rewards outstanding new contributions to Canadian legal literature.

Journalism
The Justicia Award
Recognizes excellence in journalism, for print and broadcast media.

Touchstone Award
Recognizes the promotion of equality in the legal profession, the judiciary, or the legal community in Canada.

Human Rights
The Honourable Walter S Tarnopolsky Human Rights Award
Recognizes a resident of Canada who has made an outstanding contribution to domestic or international human rights.

Public Sector Lawyers
The John Tait Award of Excellence
Recognizes a public sector lawyer or law office that has achieved the highest standards of professional conduct and competence and made significant contributions to social justice or community affairs.

Staff Achievement
The Jack Innes Achievement Award
Recognizes outstanding contribution to the CBA by a current staff member who has exhibited creativity, innovation, leadership and commitment.

Young Lawyers
Young Lawyers' Pro Bono Award
Recognizes outstanding pro bono legal services to the community by a young lawyer in Canada.

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Conference (SOGIC) Awards
Recognize excellence within the Canadian legal profession in advancing the cause of equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and two-spirited (LGBT) people.

SOGIC Ally
Open to lawyers, professors, law students or retired judges who are not members of the LGBT communities.

SOGIC Hero
