Georges A Goyer, QC Memorial Award for Distinguished Service

James D. Vilvang, QC is the recipient of one of the CBABC’s, highest honours, the Georges A. Goyer, QC Memorial Award for Distinguished Service.

The Goyer Award was created in 1992 to recognize exceptional contributions to the legal profession, to jurisprudence, or to the law in British Columbia. The award was established in memory of Georges A. Goyer, QC, a respected member of the BC Branch who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Vilvang, QC, a distinguished and recognized trial lawyer for over 30 years, was selected for his outstanding commitment to the legal profession.  A tireless volunteer, Mr. Vilvang, QC has served as President of the B.C. Branch of Canadian Bar Association (1988-1989), President of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia (1993-1994) and as a Bencher of the Law Society of B.C. (2002-2010).
