Kuan Foo of the Vancouver firm Ng Ariss Fong is the recipient of this award, which celebrates the accomplishments of a lawyer who has succeeded in advancing equality in the legal profession or generally in BC. The award recognizes significant contributions to improving the status of women, people with disabilities, people of colour, Aboriginal people or peoples, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered or two-spirited people or people who are members of historically marginalized communities.
In nominating Mr. Foo for this award Anna K. Fung, QC singled out his twelve years of work with the Law Society of British Columbia prior to joining his current firm. Ms. Fung says that as the Equity and Diversity Coordinator and later as the policy lawyer responsible for equity and diversity, Mr. Foo’s efforts “resulted in female lawyers, aboriginal lawyers and disabled lawyers knowing that they are not foreclosed from a successful career in the law simply by virtue of their differences.”

CBABC President Miriam Maisonville presents the Equality and Diversity Award to Kuan Foo.
