Dean is a Partner in the Vancouver office of Heenan Blaikie LLP. His practice has a particular focus on employment law, where he has considerable experience in wrongful dismissal litigation, executive compensation issues, enforcement of restrictive covenants, employment contracts and human rights. A former political assistant to Canada’s Minister of Justice and Minister of Health, Dean also carries out a government relations and regulatory practice. He has extensive experience representing clients in the pharmaceutical and health care sectors and frequently provides analysis and advice on government policy initiatives and regulatory reform.

Dean has previously been the CBABC executive liaison to its Legal Aid, Legislation and Law Reform, Solicitors Practice Issues and Government Relations Committees. He currently chairs the Government Relations, Audit and Nominations Committees.

Dean is a former sessional lecturer in employment law at the University of Victoria law school. He is a past Director of the Council of Parent Participation Preschools of BC and a past Director of the Kerrisdale Community Centre. Dean was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1995.
