Medicine Hat Law Day – April 28th, 2012
Courthouses throughout Alberta will be opening their doors to the public in celebration of Law Day – an initiative of the Canadian Bar Association with support from the Alberta Law Foundation. Medicine Hat Law Day will be held on Saturday, April 28th from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Provincial Court Building on 1st Street S.E.
The Law Day Committee has planned a fun-filled day of events for the whole family. There will be guided tours of the historic Court of Queen’s Bench building (11:30 AM and 1:30 PM). This year, the children’s mock trial is R. v. Alice in Wonderland (10:15 AM and 12:30 PM). There will be exhibits and demonstrations ongoing throughout the day – check out the Medicine Hat Police Service K-9 demonstration at 11:00 AM and again at 1:00 PM. Some of the other exhibitors in the past have included: I-Dentification demonstrations; Medicine Hat Ambulance Services Blood Pressure Clinic; Fire Service; the Royal Canadian Mounted Police; Canadian Forces Military Police; Big Brothers and Big Sisters; Victim Assistance; Photo Radar demonstration; and many more. Numerous service vehicles will be on display along River Road. The Court Holding Cells and the Law Library will be open to the public all day.
